Want to know your ideal caloric intake to lose weight? People who are eager to lose weight usually look for crash diet methods. Understandably, no one likes to hold that extra pounds for long, right?

Unfortunately, many people don’t know is how to effectively use caloric intake to lose weight. The logic is quite simple actually – by counting calories you can easily pinpoint and replace high calorie foods with lower calorie items.

According to several studies, it doesn’t really matter whether you choose low fat diet or low carb one but what is important is that you consume fewer calories for one to lose weight safely.

Counting calories is very vital. Many people will be stunned if their daily caloric intakes were calculated. If you want to lose weight, a practical guideline is to trim down your caloric intake by at least 500, but not more than 1000 below your maintenance level.

One thousand (1,000) calories will be too much of a deficit if you only need to lose a small amount of weight.  On the other hand, there is a minimum calorie intake that you should meet. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) advises that calorie levels must not be below 1,800 calories daily for men and 1,200 calories per day for women.

Another option is for measuring the ideal and safe caloric intake to lose weight is using your current body weight as a baseline. Around 15-20% reduction below your daily calorie maintenance needs is a good start. You can check out these different calculators here, here, and here
